Vicarage
The purpose of this unit is to give
pastoral ministry students opportunity to serve as apprentices in a
congregation of the Lutheran Church under the supervision of its pastors in
order to practice the skills of the pastoral office and to become more adept at
integrating theology and practice.
The content of the unit includes:
- mastering the skill to prepare and preach a
sermon
- preparing for and leading in worship
- learning how to prepare for and conduct
pastoral acts (baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals)
- teaching the Christian faith (eg
confirmation, pastors class, enquirers class)
- learning the pastoral skills to visit the
sick in hospital
- visiting members and contacts in their homes
- learning parish administration and the
office routine
- developing skills in pastoral care and
counseling
